Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Picture of a Real, Wild Tiger Drawn from Life (Shojin moko shasei no zu) by Kawanabe Kyosai was sold in the Fine Japanese Prints auction at Sothebys in London in December 2021. The price achieved of GBP 2,520.00 (€ 3,005.83) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kawanabe Kyosai achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hell Courtesan (Jigoku Dayu) in March 2010 with an auction result of USD 482,500.00 (€ 356,720.39).
