Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Parody Painting of the Third Princess from The Tale of Genji by Kawanabe Kyosai was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in September last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 31,875.00 (€ 32,582.03) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kawanabe Kyosai achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hell Courtesan (Jigoku Dayu) in March 2010 with an auction result of USD 482,500.00 (€ 356,720.39).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit A Parody Painting of the Third Princess from The Tale of Genji von Kawanabe Kyosai kam im September letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 31.875,00 (€ 32.582,03) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kawanabe Kyosai erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Hell Courtesan (Jigoku Dayu) im März 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 482.500,00 (€ 356.720,39).
