The work Bushu Tamagawa (The Tama River in Musashi province), from the series Fugaku sanjurokkei (The thirty-six views of Mount Fuji) by Katsushika Hokusai was sold in the Japanese and Korean Art auction at Christies in New York in March 2009. It achieved a price of USD 5,000.00 (€ 3,770.45), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 25%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Katsushika Hokusai achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Kanagawa oki nami ura (Under the well of the Great Wave off Kanagawa) [“Great Wave”|AID1099960] in March this year with an auction result of USD 2,760,000.00 (€ 2,538,631.35).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen

Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Katsushika Hokusai erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Kanagawa oki nami ura (Under the well of the Great Wave off Kanagawa) [“Great Wave”|AID1099960] im März diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.760.000,00 (€ 2.538.631,35).
