A top price for Wilhelm Gentz - as previously expected
In April 2007 Christies in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art & Orientalist Art, which included the work Crowds Gathering before the Tombs of the Caliphs, Cairo by Wilhelm Gentz. The price achieved of USD 36,000.00 (€ 26,354.32) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Crowds Gathering before the Tombs of the Caliphs, Cairo is the most expensive artwork by Wilhelm Gentz that we have observed at auctions so far.
