In April 2007 Christies in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art & Orientalist Art, which included the work Crowds Gathering before the Tombs of the Caliphs, Cairo by Wilhelm Gentz. The price achieved of USD 36,000.00 (€ 26,354.32) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00.
