Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The old Galatea Bridge connecting Karakoy to Eminonu over the Golden Horn, Istanbul by Themistokles von Eckenbrecher was sold in the 19TH CENTURY EUROPEAN ART auction at Christies in London in June 2004. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,182.50 (€ 6,224.81) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Themistokles von Eckenbrecher - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work German a Busy Street In Tangiers, which sold at auction in May 2011 for GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,152.55).
