Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Preparing the donkeys; Quiet contemplation, Hampstead Heath; and Sierra Nevada by Kalman Kemeny was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 240.00 (€ 356.19). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kalman Kemeny achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work St John'S Wood in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 3,360.00 (€ 4,979.73).
