When the work A four-case inlaid-lacquer inro by Kakosai Shozan was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in September 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 765.00 (€ 652.84).
