A top price for Kakosai Shozan - as previously expected
The work A five-case lacquer inro by Kakosai Shozan was sold in the Fine Japanese and Korean Art auction at Bonhams in New York in March 2021. The price achieved of USD 1,147.50 (€ 977.18) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, A five-case lacquer inro is the most expensive artwork by Kakosai Shozan that we have observed at auctions so far.
