An oban tate-e print depicting the heroine Osai in the play Yari no Gonza Kasane katabira by the famous playwright Chikamatsu Monzaemon (1653-1725), originally published between 1922 and 1926 as a series of 18 prints as a supplement to a set of 16 volumes of Monzaemon's work titled Dai Chikamatsu zenshu (The Complete Works of Chikamatsu); dated and signed Taisho juninen, Kiyokata saku (Made by Kiyokata, Taisho 12 [1923]). 45.9cm x 29.5cm (18 1/16in x 11 5/8in).
