Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction European Paintings including German, Austrian & Central European Paintings and The Orientalist Sale, which included the work Austrian Pferdetränke In Ober-Ungarn (Horses Watering By A Well) by Julius von Blaas. The price achieved of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 12,720.44) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Julius von Blaas - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Hunting Party With Emperor Franz Josef And Sissi, which sold at auction in April 2008 for EUR 33,850.00.
