This artwork by Jules César Denis van Loo achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in April 2021. In the Old Master Paintings and Portrait Miniatures auction, the work A River Landscape With Ruins Of An Aqueduct sold for GBP 10,710.00 (€ 12,319.62) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jules César Denis van Loo; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Snowy Landscape With Figures And A Packhorse In The Foreground sold at auction in February 2018 with the realized price of USD 18,750.00 (€ 15,355.01).
