Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2024 Christies in New York held the auction Old Masters, which included the work Pomegranates and grapes in a basket, with a melon on a stone ledge; and Apples and plums in a basket, with artichokes and cherries on a stone ledge by Juan van der Hamen y León. The price achieved of USD 252,000.00 (€ 220,241.22) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Juan van der Hamen y León achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Peaches, Pears, Plums, Peas And Cherries In Wicker Baskets, Figs, Plums And Cherries On Pewter Plates, A Bouquet Of Tulips, Blue And Yellow Irises, Roses And Other Flowers In A Venetian Crystal Vase With Terracotta And Glass Vessels And Stone Fruit On A S in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 6,517,500

Im Januar 2024 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Masters durch, in der auch die Arbeit Pomegranates and grapes in a basket, with a melon on a stone ledge; and Apples and plums in a basket, with artichokes and cherries on a stone ledge von Juan van der Hamen y León zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 252.000,00 (€ 220.241,22) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Juan van der Hamen y León erzielen.
