Auction result well in line with expectations
The work En El Palco (In The Theatre Box) by Juan Luna was sold in the Modern & Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings auction at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 3,000,000.00 – 5,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 3,140,000.00 (€ 305,953.59) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Juan Luna have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work España Y Filipinas (Spain And Philippines) in October 2013 with an auction result of HKD 25,880,000.00 (€ 2,455,877.59).

Die Arbeit En El Palco (In The Theatre Box) von Juan Luna wurde im April 2012 in der Auktion Modern & Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 3.000.000,00 – 5.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 3.140.000,00 (€ 305.953,59) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Juan Luna auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit España Y Filipinas (Spain And Philippines) im Oktober 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 25.880.000,00 (€ 2.455.877,59).
