In June 2003 Christies in London held the auction Boulle to Jansen: An Important Private European Collection, which included the work The Spanish three-masted barque Juanita Clar running into Port Mahon, Minorca by Juan Font y Vidal. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,585.00 (€ 5,151.84), 43% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Juan Font y Vidal have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Le Duque de Montpensier coming ashore from a Spanish ship lying in Port Mahon, Minorca, during his visit to the Island in April, 1852 in June 2003 with an auction result of GBP 16,730.00 (€ 24,041.92).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 43 % übertroffen
Im Juni 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion Boulle to Jansen: An Important Private European Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Spanish three-masted barque Juanita Clar running into Port Mahon, Minorca von Juan Font y Vidal zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.585,00 (€ 5.151,84) und damit 43% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Juan Font y Vidal auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Le Duque de Montpensier coming ashore from a Spanish ship lying in Port Mahon, Minorca, during his visit to the Island in April, 1852 im Juni 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.730,00 (€ 24.041,92).
