In the Boulle to Jansen: An Important Private European Collection auction, the work The Juanita Clar in the harbour at Port Mahon, Minorca sold for GBP 4,780.00 (€ 6,869.12) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Juan Font y Vidal - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Le Duque de Montpensier coming ashore from a Spanish ship lying in Port Mahon, Minorca, during his visit to the Island in April, 1852, which sold at auction in June 2003 for GBP 16,730.00 (€ 24,041.92).
