In July 2004 Christies in London held the auction Old Master Pictures, which included the work A boar hunt in winter; A stag hunt; and A stag hunt: the kill by Joseph Stephan. The price achieved of GBP 31,070.00 (€ 46,953.61) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, A boar hunt in winter; A stag hunt; and A stag hunt: the kill is the most expensive artwork by Joseph Stephan that we have observed at auctions so far.
