In May 2003 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PICTURES, which included the work Valley of the Yare, Thorpe by Joseph Stannard. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,527.50 (€ 2,128.19), 27% above the upper estimate. Other works by Joseph Stannard have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 1,997.50 (€ 2,783.02) in May 2003 for the work Valley of the Yare, Thorpe.
