signed and dated 'J.R. Meeker 1859.' (lower center)-signed with monogrammed initials 'JRM', dated again and indistinctly inscribed 'Near Bayou **** ***** St. Louis MO.' (on the reverse)

Auction result well in line with expectations

Admittedly, works by Joseph Rusling Meeker have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sunset in May 2006 with an auction result of USD 132,000.00 (€ 102,859.81).
