The »bidding war« ended at USD 168,000.00 (€ 129,250.65), 40% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Joseph-Marie Vien have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Women In Classical Dress Attending A Young Bride in February 2018 with an auction result of USD 855,000.00 (€ 700,188.35).

Die Arbeit Susanna And The Elders von Joseph-Marie Vien wurde im Januar 2007 in der Auktion Important Old Master Paintings and European Works of Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 168.000,00 (€ 129.250,65) und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joseph-Marie Vien auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Women In Classical Dress Attending A Young Bride im Februar 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 855.000,00 (€ 700.188,35).
