Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master Paintings Evening Sale, which included the work A Young Woman, Dressed À La Grecque, Holding A Canary On Her Outstretched Finger by Joseph-Marie Vien. The price achieved of GBP 241,250.00 (€ 253,382.70) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joseph-Marie Vien - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Women In Classical Dress Attending A Young Bride, which sold at auction in February 2018 for USD 855,000.00 (€ 700,188.35).
