In March 2001 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings, which included the work Fishing boats before Valetta; and A view of Valetta by Joseph Bonello. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 998.75 (€ 1,611.58), 66% above the upper estimate.
