Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2002 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master and 19th Century Drawings including Property from, which included the work Study of a male nude, seen from behind by Joseph-Benoît Suvée. The price achieved of USD 6,462.50 (€ 7,519.78) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joseph-Benoît Suvée - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work View Of The Esquiline Hill And The Basilica Of Sta. Maria Maggiore In Rome, which sold at auction in July 2007 for GBP 19,200.00 (€ 28,516.43).
