Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October this year Bonhams in London held the auction Orientalist Art, which included the work Sunset in the Valley of Sinai by Joseph Austin Benwell. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 6,144.00 (€ 7,055.02). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joseph Austin Benwell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Caravan Passing The Statues of Memnon In The Plain of Goorna At Thebes, which sold at auction in April 2006 for USD 31,200.00 (€ 24,714.83).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Oktober diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Orientalist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sunset in the Valley of Sinai von Joseph Austin Benwell zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 6.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 6.144,00 (€ 7.055,02) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Joseph Austin Benwell mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Caravan Passing The Statues of Memnon In The Plain of Goorna At Thebes beobachtet, die im April 2006 für USD 31.200,00 (€ 24.714,83) versteigert wurde.
