Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2015 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Old Masters & 19th CenturyArt - (including Dutch Impressionism), which included the work In The Desert, Sinai by Joseph Austin Benwell. The price achieved of EUR 5,000.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Joseph Austin Benwell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Caravan Passing The Statues of Memnon In The Plain of Goorna At Thebes in April 2006 with an auction result of USD 31,200.00 (€ 24,714.83).

Im November 2015 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Old Masters & 19th CenturyArt - (including Dutch Impressionism) durch, in der auch die Arbeit In The Desert, Sinai von Joseph Austin Benwell zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 5.000,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joseph Austin Benwell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Caravan Passing The Statues of Memnon In The Plain of Goorna At Thebes im April 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 31.200,00 (€ 24.714,83).
