A top price for Josef Lauer - as previously expected
The work Peaches, plums, grapes and a melon with autumn flowers on a draped, marble ledge by Josef Lauer was sold in the 19TH CENTURY EUROPEAN ART INCLUDING SCANDINAVIAN ART auction at Christies in London in March 2001. The price achieved of GBP 23,500.00 (€ 37,919.60) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Peaches, plums, grapes and a melon with autumn flowers on a draped, marble ledge is the most expensive artwork by Josef Lauer that we have observed at auctions so far.
