Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2014 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century European Paintings, which included the work Spanish En Misa (Mass) by José Gallegos. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 31,250.00 (€ 38,407.26) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by José Gallegos - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Choir of St. Mark'S, Venice, which sold at auction in November 2006 for GBP 84,000.00 (€ 124,742.63).
