Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2012 Christies in London held the auction 19th Century European Art including Orientalist Art, which included the work Palazzo Contarini, Venice by José Gallegos. The price achieved of GBP 37,250.00 (€ 45,888.22) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by José Gallegos - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Choir of St. Mark'S, Venice, which sold at auction in November 2006 for GBP 84,000.00 (€ 124,742.63).
