The »bidding war« ended at USD 80,500.00 (€ 58,038.93), 15% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by José Gallegos - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Choir of St. Mark'S, Venice, which sold at auction in November 2006 for GBP 84,000.00 (€ 124,742.63).
