Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
The work Portrait Of A Man Clasping A Drink by Joos van Craesbeeck was worth GBP 16,250.00 (€ 19,043.40) to a buyer in March 2017. This price was achieved in the auction Two Great Scottish Collections: Property from the Forbeses of Pitsligo and the Marquesses of Lothian at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joos van Craesbeeck - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fröhliche Gesellschaft, which sold at auction in July 2021 for EUR 45,000.00.
