Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Joy of Life by Jonathan Scott Hartley was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,772.00 (€ 2,399.58). Other works by Jonathan Scott Hartley have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in October 2015 by the work Music (Indian Boy Playing A Flute) at USD 4,750.00 (€ 4,301.76).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Joy of Life von Jonathan Scott Hartley im Oktober 2021 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.772,00 (€ 2.399,58) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Jonathan Scott Hartley wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Oktober 2015 die Arbeit Music (Indian Boy Playing A Flute) mit USD 4.750,00 (€ 4.301,76).
