Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Philosopher Of Ferney by John Young Hunter was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2008. The price achieved of GBP 3,750.00 (€ 3,938.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Young Hunter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Vanity Fair in July 2020 with an auction result of GBP 125,000.00 (€ 139,427.98).
