Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The bridge, near Capel Curig, Wales by John Wright Oakes was auctioned at Christies in London in April 2011. The price achieved of GBP 687.50 (€ 774.24) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Wright Oakes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Peel Castle, Isle of Man in June 2004 with an auction result of GBP 15,535.00 (€ 23,120.73).
