Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Studies of a Fish by John William Lewin was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2003. The price achieved of GBP 8,365.00 (€ 8,425.84) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John William Lewin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Natural History of the Birds of New South Wales, 1838, which sold at auction in May last year for GBP 27,720.00 (€ 32,609.94).
