Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2000 Christies in London held the auction Maritime and Naval Battles, which included the work On the Humber by John Ward of Hull. It changed hands for a price of GBP 5,875.00 (€ 9,602.46) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Ward of Hull achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Northern Whale Fishery; the Swan and Isabella in September 2006 with an auction result of GBP 176,000.00 (€ 259,637.11).

Im November 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime and Naval Battles durch, in der auch die Arbeit On the Humber von John Ward of Hull zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 5.875,00 (€ 9.602,46) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Ward of Hull erzielen.
