Auction result misses estimated price range
In April 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work Sheep resting in a mountainous landscape by John W. Morris for GBP 282.00 (€ 367.43). This price was achieved in the auction At Home - British and Continental Pictures & Works on Paper at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John W. Morris achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Guarding The Sheep in August 2006 with an auction result of GBP 2,880.00 (€ 4,282.74).
