Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A shepherd and his flock in a Highland landscape by John W. Morris was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,175.00 (€ 1,895.98). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John W. Morris - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Guarding The Sheep, which sold at auction in August 2006 for GBP 2,880.00 (€ 4,282.74).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A shepherd and his flock in a Highland landscape von John W. Morris im März 2001 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.200,00 – 1.800,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.175,00 (€ 1.895,98) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von John W. Morris mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Guarding The Sheep beobachtet, die im August 2006 für GBP 2.880,00 (€ 4.282,74) versteigert wurde.
