A top price for John Trumbull
In May last year Christies in New York held the auction Stewards of the West: The Knobloch Collection, which included the work George Washington by John Trumbull. Here, the upper estimate of USD 1,500,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 1,620,000.00 (€ 1,509,644.95). With this result, George Washington is even the most expensive work of art by John Trumbull that we have observed at auctions so far.

Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Stewards of the West: The Knobloch Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit George Washington von John Trumbull zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 1.500.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 1.620.000,00 (€ 1.509.644,95) einen neuen Besitzer. Mit diesem Ergebnis ist George Washington sogar das teuerste Kunstwerk von John Trumbull, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
