Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2018 Christies in London held the auction Modern/British & Irish Art, which included the work Fiesta by John Skelton. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,537.93) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Skelton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Torso Leaning in February 2007 with an auction result of GBP 9,600.00 (€ 14,231.66).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2018 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern/British & Irish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Fiesta von John Skelton zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 2.250,00 (€ 2.537,93) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Skelton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Torso Leaning im Februar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 9.600,00 (€ 14.231,66).
