In May 2004 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Pictures, which included the work On the Thames at Twickenham by John Seymour Lucas. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 896.25 (€ 1,344.71), 28% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Seymour Lucas achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The burning of Martin Luther's works in September 2007 with an auction result of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 14,339.26).

Im Mai 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit On the Thames at Twickenham von John Seymour Lucas zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 896,25 (€ 1.344,71) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Seymour Lucas erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The burning of Martin Luther's works im September 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 10.000,00 (€ 14.339,26).
