The work September in the Mountains by John Samuel Loxton was auctioned at Christies in Melbourne in August 2002. The price achieved of AUD 1,997.50 (€ 1,119.34) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, September in the Mountains is the most expensive artwork by John Samuel Loxton that we have observed at auctions so far.
