In November 2006 Sothebys in Olympia held the auction British and Continental Pictures including Marine pictures, which included the work The Treasures Of The Deep by John Robertson Reid. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,560.00 (€ 6,771.74), 52% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Robertson Reid - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Hiding the Deserter, which sold at auction in February 2003 for GBP 11,950.00 (€ 17,446.62).

Im November 2006 führte Sothebys in Olympia die Auktion British and Continental Pictures including Marine pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Treasures Of The Deep von John Robertson Reid zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 4.560,00 (€ 6.771,74) und damit 52% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von John Robertson Reid mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Hiding the Deserter beobachtet, die im Februar 2003 für GBP 11.950,00 (€ 17.446,62) versteigert wurde.
