Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Crug Glas, Swansea (L. 173) by John Piper was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2001. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 528.75 (€ 861.03) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Piper achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Abstract Painting, 1935 in November 2015 with an auction result of GBP 362,500.00 (€ 516,327.40).
