A top price for John Piper - as previously expected
In November 2015 Christies in London held the auction Modern British and Irish Art Evening Sale, which included the work Abstract Painting, 1935 by John Piper. The price achieved of GBP 362,500.00 (€ 516,327.40) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300,000.00 – 500,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Abstract Painting, 1935 is the most expensive artwork by John Piper that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis mit Ansage
Im November 2015 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern British and Irish Art Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Abstract Painting, 1935 von John Piper zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 362.500,00 (€ 516.327,40) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 300.000,00 – 500.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Abstract Painting, 1935 das teuerste Kunstwerk von John Piper, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
