This artwork by John Phillip achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in February 2007. In the Christopher Wood A Very Victorian Eye auction, the work Sketch of Princess Alice, full-length, as a bridesmaid, for 'The Marriage of the Princess Royal, 25 January 1858' sold for GBP 1,380.00 (€ 2,045.80) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 700.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Phillip achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Early Career of Murillo - 1634 'He was reduced to earn his daily bread by painting coarse and hasty pictures for the Feria (weekly fair) held in a broad street branching from the northern end of the Old Alameda and in front of the old church of ' in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 94,650.00 (€ 138,186

Dieses Kunstwerk von John Phillip erzielte im Februar 2007 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Christopher Wood A Very Victorian Eye wurde die Arbeit Sketch of Princess Alice, full-length, as a bridesmaid, for 'The Marriage of the Princess Royal, 25 January 1858' für GBP 1.380,00 (€ 2.045,80) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 700,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Phillip erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Early Career of Murillo - 1634 'He was reduced to earn his daily bread by painting coarse and hasty pictures for the Feria (weekly fair) held in a broad street branching from the northern end of the Old Alameda and in front of the old church of ' im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 94.650,00 (€ 138.186,01).
