The work Frog, 1997 by John Olsen was sold in the Important Australian Art auction at Bonhams in Sydney in November this year. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 6,150.00 (€ 3,729.02), 54% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Olsen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lily Pond at Humpty-Doo, 2004 in May last year with an auction result of AUD 369,000.00 (€ 343,863.57).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 54 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Frog, 1997 von John Olsen wurde im November diesen Jahres in der Auktion Important Australian Art bei Bonhams in Sydney versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 6.150,00 (€ 3.729,02) und damit 54% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Olsen erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Lily Pond at Humpty-Doo, 2004 im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 369.000,00 (€ 343.863,57).
