A top price for John Olsen - as previously expected
The work Lily Pond at Humpty-Doo, 2004 by John Olsen was sold in the Important Australian Art auction at Bonhams in Sidney in May last year. The price achieved of AUD 369,000.00 (€ 343,863.57) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 300,000.00 – 400,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Lily Pond at Humpty-Doo, 2004 is the most expensive artwork by John Olsen that we have observed at auctions so far.

Die Arbeit Lily Pond at Humpty-Doo, 2004 von John Olsen wurde im Mai letzten Jahres in der Auktion Important Australian Art bei Bonhams in Sidney versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 369.000,00 (€ 343.863,57) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 300.000,00 – 400.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Lily Pond at Humpty-Doo, 2004 das teuerste Kunstwerk von John Olsen, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
