Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Primal by John Noel Smith was auctioned at Sothebys in London in October 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 12,500.00 (€ 17,950.82). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Noel Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Ogham V, which sold at auction in October 2006 for GBP 36,000.00 (€ 53,787.21).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Primal von John Noel Smith im Oktober 2007 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 12.500,00 (€ 17.950,82) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von John Noel Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Ogham V beobachtet, die im Oktober 2006 für GBP 36.000,00 (€ 53.787,21) versteigert wurde.
