Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Village School In Bedfordshire by John Morgan was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 70,000.00 – 100,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 68,750.00 (€ 76,714.44). Admittedly, works by John Morgan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Fight (The Cricket Match) in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 422,500.00 (€ 543,897.61).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A Village School In Bedfordshire von John Morgan im Juli 2017 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 70.000,00 – 100.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 68.750,00 (€ 76.714,44) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Morgan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Fight (The Cricket Match) im Dezember 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 422.500,00 (€ 543.897,61).
