Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Portrait Of General George Monck, 1St Duke Of Albemarle, K.G. (1608-1670) by John Michael Wright was sold in the Powderham Castle & Seaton Delaval Hall auction at Sothebys in London in September 2009. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 60,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 67,250.00 (€ 73,565.89). Admittedly, works by John Michael Wright have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Highland Chieftain: Portrait of Lord Mungo Murray (1668-1700), full-length, in highland dress, holding a flintlock sporting gun in his right hand, a gilt-hilt ribbon basket sword at his left side, in a landscape with a flock of wild goats beyond in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 322,750.00 (€ 511,598

(1608-1670) von John Michael Wright wurde im September 2009 in der Auktion Powderham Castle & Seaton Delaval Hall bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 60.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 67.250,00 (€ 73.565,89) einen neuen Besitzer.
