Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2011 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work The battle of Trafalgar, 21st October 1805 by John Michael Groves. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,375.00 (€ 1,572.32) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Other works by John Michael Groves have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in May 2011 the work Sketch for 'The Taking of the Minerva' was auctioned for GBP 2,625.00 (€ 3,001.70).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The battle of Trafalgar, 21st October 1805 von John Michael Groves zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.375,00 (€ 1.572,32) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Andere Arbeiten von John Michael Groves konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im Mai 2011 die Arbeit Sketch for 'The Taking of the Minerva' für GBP 2.625,00 (€ 3.001,70) versteigert.
